By popular demand I am posting the program that I use to do Tom's entries. Basically this is how the program works: I keep a Microsoft Excel file with all of the information needed to fill out an entry form, i.e. registered name, call name, registration numbers, etc.. This is my master file.
When Tom calls me to make his entries I copy this file to a new one. Tom indicates which dog is to be entered in which stake and I put that information in the column for "stake". I look up on the AKC web site for the entry fees and fill in that column. I then save that file. I then open a Microsoft Word document that has the AKC form saved to it. In the blanks where information needs to be filled in I have mail merge fields inside of text boxes. These are already filled in by what ever spreadsheet is already linked as the mail merge data source. I only have to change the club information, the date of the trial, the event number and the location, which are all standard Microsoft Word texts.
I then do a mail merge to a new document and the new document has all of the dogs entries in it. I use a free program, PDF995, which acts like a printer to print the forms to a PDF file and then I post it to a web site or e-mail it to the field trial secretary. What I am making available here are the files that I use and the information on how to use them so that you too can do your entries this way. You will need Microsoft Excel and Word and a little experience using them. I am using Windows XP and don't know if the file formats are the same for earlier and later versions so if it works, great, if not, sorry. Do you want to try it? Updated 03/09/2005 |
